So Cold
We have loved learning about the different names of Jesus. We love that He is everything to each of us. He is a healer when we need healing. He is our advocate when we need to repent. He is light, and life, and hope. He is our Redeemer, our Savior, our friend. We decided to make a wall in our dining room to remind us of who He is-always. What do you think? I love the way it turned out!
We love being missionaries for our Savior. We have many great adventures and they make us happy and crazy and fulfilled all at once.
We had District Council and it was awesome-as always. And Wednesday evenings is Young Women and we have become the Uber driver for one of our cute girls from Oneida. We drive half an hour to pick her up, bring her back to Rome, and then take her home but it is so worth having her be able to come. This past week we made friendship bracelets. It was fun to see what the girls did to embellish their bracelets. I made one that says WWJD.
How can the Book of Mormon just keep getting better and better? Joseph Smith said, I have it written in the front of my hardback book, "He who reads it most, loves it best." Don't you just love that. I am falling in love with the Book of Mormon over and over. Teaching its precepts and lessons is so much different than just studying it on my own.
Mike spent some time having a root canal on Friday morning. He had broken a tooth and we are on the way to fix it and spend a little money along the way. That afternoon, we got a phone call telling us that our brother in law, Lynn, had passed away. He has been so sick and he needed to go home but it's always hard to say goodbye. It is hard being away from family at times like this but we know that Kathy and her family are being taken care of by our Heavenly Father. We will watch the funeral virtually, if it's possible. We are so thankful for the gospel that teaches us to have faith and that our Savior will give us strength in the hard times and grace and mercy all of the time. We are thankful for forever families.
And then it turned COLD! So Cold! The weather is so up and down that no wonder people have are sick. Here in Rome we got to -16 with a windchill of -31. We pretty much stayed in for those couple of days. With the exception of running to Lowes to walk.
We had the chance to have dinner on Saturday with our old Branch President and his wife and the Joneses. The Morgans moved into a new little home from where they were living so we met them all for dinner and had some delicious BBQ ribs and then we went to their home and played Cover Your Assets. (They had never played before and we laughed and laughed) We had such a great time. I made caramel corn to take and it was funny, Brother Jones and Sister Morgan asked how long it took to unwrap all the caramels to melt them for the caramel corn. They didn't know that you could just make your own caramel-and mine??? It is so easy and so so good. My darling friend, Emily, gave me the recipe and we love it. (Mike chewed on the opposite side of his temp filling)
I was called to be the second counselor in our new Relief Society Presidency. It's going to be a ride and I am excited to be involved in a way that hopefully I can help. Mike is doing great as the Executive Secretary as he trains and helps to organize our ward. Church was awesome. We were there for quite a while as the new presidency was set apart. We came home and I fixed dinner for the Sisters. Sundays are always a favorite day.
We hope your week is wonderful. We feel so very blessed to be serving our Heavenly Father and Savior. We love being with the young missionaries. We love when we feel the Spirit directing us. We have testimonies of Prophets and covenants and most importantly of our Savior. We love Him. We are so thankful to have been raised by stalwart parents who built a strong foundation for us. So many don't have that. So many fall away and don't even have a belief in Jesus Christ. We are thankful every day!
