Home Sweet Home

When we left the Provo MTC we assumed we would have quite the long, maybe boring road trip. We actually loved driving across country! It was long-but not boring! We got terribly tired and we were so thankful to be done each day, but what a glorious country we live in! Those funky rock formations in Wyoming- and I might add, Cheyenne is a pretty little place! We loved traveling through Nebraska and Iowa with their rolling corn fields ( which were not planted yet) and the amazing farms that dotted the countryside! We felt such gratitude for the farmers from the “ breadbasket” of our country who grow the wheat and corn for us to have so many yummy foods to eat!

And we crossed the Missouri River and the Mighty Mississippi

We crossed through Illinois and into Indiana! More farms but a lot more trees. Such beautiful places. On our way to Erie Pennsylvania we stopped by Kirtland Ohio - One of our favorite places in church history! So many wonderful things happened in Kirtland! The Prophet Joseph received many  key revelations there and, of course, Priesthood keys were brought back to the earth! How thankful we are for the keys to help us gather Covenant Israel on both sides of the veil!

And then we drove through Pennsylvania and into New York. Nature is just beginning to return to come back to life after the long winter and we can’t wait to see the blooming dogwoods! We already love it here! We moved into the first floor of a 100+ year old house and have been working hard to get settled in! The hardwood floors slope a bit! The spaces are a little smaller than we are used to so we’ve had to get creative! We have all new appliances which is great! It already is feeling like “ home”.

We have spent time meeting our District leaders-really amazing young men who lead and teach with the spirit! We met our Mission President and his wife! Again, amazing people who are so kind and friendly! We also talked with our Stake President and met with our Branch President. We can’t wait to get to know these Priesthood leaders better! We have also met three other senior couples and look forward to a senior missionary retreat next month to get to know them and others better!
We live in a darling neighborhood. We have nice neighbors that like to party 😊 but they are so kind to us! We’ve done some exploring on our morning walks and are very thankful for gps to get us around ( not on our walks-but everywhere else) we would be so lost without it!

Prices are higher here for most things but we’ll figure it all out! We’ll find where we like to shop! And we’ve heard there are some great diners here. We’ve also seen a lot of ice cream shops which makes sense because we live in a major dairy state!
We are just so happy to be here! We love our Savior! We are thankful to be His representatives in Rome and Oneida
New York! Go Team Jesus!
