Searching for the Perfect Post Card Shot

We spent some time in our car on Monday looking for a perfect post card shot for when the snow flies.  I have this idea in my head that I want to capture a Normal Rockwell kind of Christmas village in a snow storm.  There are plenty of enchanting towns here but I want one that I can shoot from on top of a hill so I am shooting down into the town that surrounds the perfect little white church. You know that picture!  The one on Christmas cards!  We'll see if I truly get that shot.  It's on my bucket list.  And Mike?  Well, you know how he indulges me.  We did find some pretty cool trees, completely bare now and hosting a bit of snow at their feet.  I think any season is probably beautiful here!

We had the chance to pick up one of our friends from the hospital after a test where they put her out and she couldn't drive.  We love her and were so happy that she had asked us.  She doesn't rely on people very often so it was a nice treat.

Our little town is lighting up the world with Christmas lights. The churches have wreaths on their doors and all the little parks have lit up villages and characters.
We have been making a bunch little Baby Jesus' in a manger for decorations for our upcoming Zone Conference.  They turned out great. Look how cute they are.
We met our new District and man they are wonderful.  We are so blessed to be able to meet with these young Elders and Sisters.  I probably say that every week but it's how we feel.  We also had what our Relief Society President calls "Sister Time".  It's a mid week activity and nobody usually comes.  We made "Blessing Jars" and we had our Sisters and two other ladies come.  It was fun but a ton of work for not very many to show up to.  That's kind of how it is here.  Makes us a little sad.

Thursday is always a highlight because it's Book of Mormon day.  We taught about Alma healing Zeezrom and how sometimes really hard things can happen to us but through faith and trust in our Savior, He blesses us and consecrates our sacrifice for our good.  There is an amazing video on the Church's website called "Life is Incredibly Unfair-In Our Favor". You should watch it.  We showed it and then testified that we don't always know why things happen they way that they do, but our Savior always compensates and makes it better.  We don't know how He does that but He does.  And it's miraculous!

Our visiting for Friday all fell through and as it was, it was good that we were here in the afternoon.  We got a phone call from the Elders in Whitesboro and they had been in an accident and needed a ride.  We are so thankful that they weren't hurt.  We grabbed them and took them home and then we ran to Syracuse to pick up the table cloths that we need for Zone Conference and to have dinner with the office couples. We love that they include us.

We found the driver's license of one of the Elder's in our back seat so I made some cookies and ran them and the license to them.  We were hoping that the cookies would make them feel a little better after their accident.

We hung some Christmas lights in our home-where it was warm and then we ran to the Rome Ward Christmas party. It was a fun evening filled with yummy food and fun little portrayal of the Nativity.
We are planning the Christmas Party for our Oneida Branch but it won't include a Nativity because the two families that have children can't be at the party. We are doing a service project to help hungry children over the Christmas break.  We will have a nice dinner, play a game with white elephants and put together the food kits.  We might have 6 people and we are praying for 26 people to be there.

I have spent time on my computer making some Christmas invitations for our Christmas party and for Christmas Day Sacrament Meeting.  I love putting together fun and beautiful pieces.  Here's one that you are welcome to use if you want.  I love how it turned out!  It's a 4x5.

We are so thankful for the opportunity to be missionaries.  Some days we wonder if we are making any difference.  But we know that we are touching hearts.  And those hearts are touching our hearts. We feel so very blessed by our Heavenly Father.  We hope and pray that you are well and happy.  Until next week!
