One of Those Weeks

When you have one of those kinds of weeks? We had a slow week to say the least.  Not sure why but it was pretty uneventful.  On P Day, I worked on a subway art for a few minutes-I have the coolest metal sign holder that stands on an easel and holds subway art.  It's one of the few decorations I brought from home.  So I put together a January one for our living room.  It turned out cute.  I love doing graphic art on my computer.

Tuesday, we had a phone appointment to work on some financial stuff for the new year.  We waited around for a phone call that came late and didn't last long-but needed to be redone a few hours later-so we ended up hanging around here for that. It was kind of a bust for the day!  We did get some good scripture study in for our weekly training and for Come Follow Me.  Look at my cute new New Testament Journaling Edition.  I love it. We have been challenged to pick a word of something we want to concentrate on this year- to work at improving- something that helps me develop a Christlike attribute.  I have chosen to work on loving as Jesus loves.  That is my goal. Mike picked "Perfect" and wants to work at becoming more perfect in living his covenants and following our Savior.

Wednesday was transfer day for the missionaries, and when it's transfer day, we don't have District Council.  We have a new Senior Couple in our District so we used the time to go to lunch and get to know them a little better.  We are so blessed to have another Senior Couple so close.  Afterwards we drove to Hamilton (about 45 minutes) to our former Branch President's home so that Mike could get on his computer (we needed his sign in) to move the memberships of our branch to the Rome Ward.  The only problem, we couldn't seem to move our "out of unit" records over.  So when you get into the Oneida Branch on Tools, we are the only two members of the whole branch.  We talked with our new Bishop and he said that he could do it easily with our birthdays.  Well, he moved our memberships from our Pleasant View Home Ward to the Rome Ward.  Now we can't get into our ward to pay our tithing and mission money.  OOPS!  And we are still listed as a branch of two for Oneida. We gotta get that figured out.

Thursday was our Book of Mormon class.  We taught 1 Ne 17 and were excited that we had some Rome people come.  We are hoping that it will catch on and become something that they love as much as we do. I always take treats and I am always trying to work around people's likes and dislikes and allergies.  I can't keep doing that-if they don't like what I bring, I guess they can pass on the treat.  This week I made an oatmeal spice cake with a caramel frosting on it.  It was tasty and everyone seemed to like it.

Friday was a cookie making day for treat bags to take as we meet our new ward members.  I made a big batch of chocolate chip cookies and they turned out delish.  I also made a cute little card to attach to say hi! That evening we drove into Liverpool to meet up with the office couples for dinner.  We went to one of my favorite restaurants called "Smokey Bones" but man was it slow.  We were there for 2 1/2 hours.  We had some great conversation but that was way too long to be there. Mike and I bought some of their big nachos to share with everyone.  They put pulled pork on them and then drizzle with the most amazing glaze that is sweet with a little kick.  And then we shared some amazing St Louis ribs, some coleslaw, baked beans, and fries. The food did not disappoint.  We raced to Costco with 15 minutes to spare, ran in, grabbed about 4 things and ran out.  Only after did I wish I had grabbed some butter and whipping cream.

Saturday was a delivery day.  We packaged up our cookies-some in boxes for larger families and some in small bags with a few cookies. We love being able to meet people and they really like the cookies.

Sunday started out with Ward Council, we had fast meeting, RS and Priesthood and then headed home.  We fixed dinner for our Rome Sisters.  I made inside out chicken cordon bleu, cheesy potatoes, green beans, and garlic knot pull apart.  It was a hit and we had such a great time with them, discussing missionary work in our ward. We watched Elder and Sister Holland on the YSA Devotional, and then about fell into bed.  Hopefully this coming week will be a little better at doing missionary work.  Thank you for your support and prayers.  We are so blessed by our Heavenly Father.  We know that Jesus is the Christ, that He loves us, that He saves us every day, and that He is a God of miracles.  We have seen those miracles many times and continue to see them.  We love you all!
