A Mighty Mission Moment

Image
We love our mission but sometimes there is just something that stand out about all the rest in a week.  We had one of those moments and it hasn't come to an end just yet.  Let me tell you about a beautiful miracle.  We were preparing for our Book of Mormon class.  I had decided not to make a treat-I’ve got to stop eating the treats.  Anyway, I was working at putting together  3 Ne 24-26 about Malachi and tithing and turning the hearts of the children to the fathers.  About an hour before we were going to leave, the Sisters called, almost yelling in the phone about how excited they were that Katie’s husband would be coming to the Book of Mormon class.  Let me tell you about Katie and her husband. Katie is an adorable lady that the sisters found as she was walking her dogs down the street.  It was an immediate connection and she started coming to church before they even started teaching her.  She brings food to the parties (more than...

Valentine's Day Ice Cream Cones

The day celebrating love was actually the day before transfers.  We love our missionaries and we get pretty attached to them. We meet with them every week, we teach with them, and we learn a ton from them, so transfers tug at our hearts.  There is a gas station/convenience store/ice cream shop called Stewarts.  Most ice cream places close for the winter season but Stewarts always has ice cream-and they have all kinds of different flavors that are really yummy.  On Valentine's Day they ran a special for $1 a scoop cones.  We decided it would be fun to take our Rome Sisters for a cone to say goodbye to Sister Curzon who was transferred to Palmyra (Lucky Girl).   We also drove to Hamilton (45 minutes) to take our Sisters there for ice cream. We didn't get a picture with them.  Sister Maw was leaving to go home-back to Alaska.  We gave them hugs and said goodbye.  We ran to visit a friend in West Winfield and then to a Regional Volleyball g...

Two Lessons and a Party

Some color to brighten your life! What a week we have had.  We feel so blessed when things come together.  We love how the Spirit works and for the lessons we learn along the way.  Once, every six weeks, we have the chance to share our Preparation Day with the missionaries in our District.  Monday, the 6th was that day and boy, did we have fun with our amazing young missionaries.  We went to the Energy Zone, a free little hands on museum that teaches about electricity.  The missionaries learned how to make a light bulb, get electricity from where it is generated to local homes and businesses, the best ways to make reusable energy, and why wind, sun, and water are so important to generating power.  Afterwards, we just had to go to lunch, because, you know, these young missionaries are always hungry. They voted on 5 Guys Burgers and so off we went.  The Elders can really put the food away-and then go back for milkshakes.  We had a great time. B...

So Cold

We have loved learning about the different names of Jesus.  We love that He is everything to each of us.  He is a healer when we need healing.  He is our advocate when we need to repent.  He is light, and life, and hope.  He is our Redeemer, our Savior, our friend. We decided to make a wall in our dining room to remind us of who He is-always.  What do you think? I love the way it turned out! We love being missionaries for our Savior.  We have many great adventures and they make us happy and crazy and fulfilled all at once.  We had District Council and it was awesome-as always.  And Wednesday evenings is Young Women and we have become the Uber driver for one of our cute girls from Oneida.  We drive half an hour to pick her up, bring her back to Rome, and then take her home but it is so worth having her be able to come.  This past week we made friendship bracelets.  It was fun to see what the girls did to embellish their br...
