Super Couples
The Senior Couples in our mission have been dubbed "Super Couples" by our mission leaders. Last Monday, we had the chance to visit the Thousand Islands, in the St Lawrence Seaway, with four other of our senior missionary couples. We have had the best time getting to know them better. We are spread out with such distance that we don't get to meet up in person very often. Last month, when we had our Mission Tour with Elder and Sister McConkie, we had the chance to meet up with these awesome people and that is when we planned to have a P-Day all together. We met in Alexandria Bay and I had told them to bring jackets and then guess who forgot theirs? Well, it was pretty chilly so Mike and I ran across the parking lot to a place and bought jackets to keep us warm. We got on the boat for what is called "The Two Nation Tour". It's a couple of hours on the river seeing all the beautiful Islands and homes that make up the Thousand Islands. We even crossed into Canada (thus the Two Nation Tour title) We had a stop at Boldt Castle which Mike and I have seen before, and then we had lunch back in Alex Bay. We had a wonderful time!

The rest of our week went pretty much like the other weeks. We got to hang out with our Sister missionaries at the astronomy class. We learned about black holes and brown dwarfs. We learned about what happens when a star dies. It is really quite interesting.
Our morning walks are just wonderful. We haven't been doing as far because of my knee but we are still getting out. There is color everywhere and the people are doing yard work and planting their gardens. We are chomping at the bit to have the produce hit our favorite little Amish stand. But for now, we have beautiful flowers to enjoy.
I spent some time working on YW camp because the postcards that I had made and shared last week-the YCL's didn't like them. They don't want cute-they want vintage, so I spent time finding vintage postcards and making basic journaling pages.
Wednesday is our District Council day and we learned a lot from Elder Alvi. We always do real-plays and practice different scenarios. We are always the friend being taught and try to make things a bit difficult for the missionaries to teach. They love us.
Thursday was the second part of our Book of Mormon lesson on Jacob 5 and the Allegory of the Olive Tree. It was actually an awesome lesson. I just love when the Spirit takes over and teaches through us.
We had the chance to do service at the food pantry on both Friday and Saturday last week. It is always fun to pack up boxes with food for those who need it. Friday night, we met up with Elder and Sister Park at a really great Greek restaurant in New Hartford, called Symeons, and had dinner with them. We love being with the Parks. They have been on their mission just 6 months and are part of our district.
The weeks seem to be flying by. Not sure what we will do when this adventure comes to an end. In fact, it makes me very anxious to think about. We feel so blessed to be missionaries for our Savior. We love the name tag that we wear each and every day. We love the reminder that we are His disciples and we pray each day that we will make a difference in the lives of the people we come to know and love. I know that when the name tag comes off, that we will still carry the name of Jesus Christ on our hearts- it's just hard to think about.
We hope you have a blessed week. Know that we are so thankful for you. We love you all!
